Tri-City Raceway Park to Present Holiday Fireworks

(Franklin, PA July 1, 2021):  Come and celebrate the Independence Day Holiday at Tri-City Raceway Park. Fans will see an exciting four-division program of auto racing plus a fabulous fireworks display. The gates will open at 2 p.m. for the racers, and 4 p.m. for the spectators. The festivities will begin at 6 p.m.

With his win last Sunday, Brandon Matus narrowed the points lead held by defending champion, Jack Sodeman, Jr., to only 23 counters in the Shawgo Real Estate LLC 410 Sprint Car division. Sodeman was forced to use a back-up car last week due to crash damage to his primary car at another area speedway. Sodeman has multiple wins with his newer machine, but it is unknown whether or when it will see further action.

But other positions in the top ten are also hotly contested. Brent Matus now has a two-point margin over Kyle Colwell in their battle for third, and Bob Felmlee is one point up on Carl Bowser for the fifth spot in the rankings. Brandon Spithaler seems to be secure in the seventh position. But only twelve points separate young Chase Metheny, in eighth, from Darin Gallagher, in tenth. In between them is George Hobaugh and just on the outside looking in is New York invader Matt Farnham.

The racers will earn points toward the championship in their heat race and in the feature event. So, every position is meaningful in the bigger picture.

Jeremiah Shingledecker has built a 36-point advantage in the Krill Recycling LLC 358 Modified ranks with his second win in a row and third on the season. A battle is shaping up for second, though, as Kevin Hoffman leads Jimmy Holden by just five points. Several other positions in the top ten seem secure, except for the tenth spot. Currently, D.J. Schrader is tied with Max Smoker, but veteran Lonny Riggs is merely two points out of the top ten.

In the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Pro Stocks, William Hurrelbrink saw his advantage shrink to just ten points over Josh Seippel. But before these experienced drivers get too complacent, they need to consider teenager Tyler Wyant who is just four points out of second and fourteen behind Hurrelbrink. What is more, Curtis J. Bish is only five ponts behind Wyant. So every pass on the track could have implications in the season-long championship contest.

Dalton Speer’s third win in a row in the 4 Your Car Connection Mini Stocks has propelled him to a seventeen point lead over his rival, Justin Bailey. But things could tighten up this week because Speer will be starting dead last in the feature event. Can he drive to the front anyway? You will want to see for yourself!

Regular event ticket pricing will apply for this holiday entertainment. So, adults (ages 16 to 62) will be admitted for $15, and seniors (ages 62 and up) can enjoy the races for $13. Students (ages 11 through 16) will be admitted for $10. Children (ages 10 and under) will be admitted for free. The Family Pass will cost $45 and that will admit two adults of any age and two students. Pit Passes will be $30 for those who wish to get a closer look at the race cars and teams as they prepare for the night of action.

Remember that Tri-City Raceway Park will be closed for a summer break on July 11, but racing will resume on July 18 with a Sprint Spectacular. Joining the Shawgo Real Estate LLC 410 Sprints will be the RUSH Sprint Cars presented by Gary Glass Automotive and Washington House. The younger generation will get their opportunity to perform in the Junior Sprint division. The Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Pro Stocks will get a tune-up for the Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series race to be held on July 25. The 4 Your Car Connection Mini Stocks will complete the card on July 18.
