Tri-City Raceway Park Ready to Try Again Sunday, W. PA. Sprint Speedweek and More on Tap

(Franklin, PA May 31, 2022):  Tri-City Raceway Park will be ready to start the 2022 racing season with a big event on June 5:  the finale of the Western Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek. “The extended forecast is looking favorable, so we are hoping for a great turn-out of competitors and fans for this race. It is one of the cornerstones of our schedule,” said track owner Merle Black.

Last year, when the mini-series was revived by former Tri-City official Tyler Beichner, racers from Central Pennsylvania and even further away came in to compete against the local favorites. The victory went to one of the invaders, Bobby Howard, and the drivers who race under the banner of Shawgo Real Estate, LLC are looking to even up the score.

Leading the local contingent will be none other than Brandon Matus, who clinched his first track championship in thrilling fashion in 2021. Multi-time track champion Jack Sodeman, Jr. will be on hand, along with third generation racer Sye Lynch. Many other talents, including Carl Bowser, A.J. Flick, and Brent Matus, are expected.

Also on the card will be the 358 Modifieds, now racing for the Donovan & Bauer Auto Group championship. Can Jeremiah Shingledecker pick up where he left off? He dominated the action on the big, racy oval last season. Jimmy Holden, Kevin Hoffman, Lonny Riggs, and many more will try to turn the tables on him.

Justin Bailey will be ready to resume his battle with Dalton Speer in the 4 Your Car Connection Mini Stock ranks. More than two dozen competitors attended most of the races last year, and with a delayed start to the 2022 season, even more are expected.

The RUSH Sprint Cars will also be on hand. These cars are very evenly matched because they must all run the same, economical engine and shock packages. Fans will enjoy the tough competition provided by these wingless warriors.

Although this will be a special race, regular event ticket pricing will apply. So, adults (ages 16 to 62) will be admitted for $15, and seniors (ages 62 and up) will be admitted for $13. Student tickets (for those aged 10 to 16) will be $10. Children (up to age 10) will be admitted for free. The Family Pass will be $45, and that will be good for two adults of any age and two students. Pit Passes will be $30.

Gates will open at 2 p.m. for the competitors, and 4 p.m. for the spectators. Racing will begin at 6 p.m.

If you cannot make it to the track this week for the season opener, Sunday Thunder programs will be held on June 12 and 19. The RUSH Sprints will not be in action on those dates. Instead, the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Pro Stocks will be part of the programs.
