Tri-City Raceway Park to Try Again Sunday

(Franklin, PA July 20, 2022):  Tri-City Raceway Park will attempt another Sunday Thunder racing program on July 24, with action scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Four divisions of competition will be presented at the Venango County oval owned by Merle Black.

Topping the card will be the Shawgo Real Estate LLC 410 Sprint Cars. Former kingpin Jack Sodeman, Jr. currently leads the championship points but he has yet to reach victory lane in 2022. With two victories at Tri-City and nine overall, A.J. Flick is the fourth-ranked Sprint Car racer in the country. He will be looking to improve his average finishing position so that he can move up in the national rankings.

Plenty of other drivers will be in contention for the win, including defending track champion, Brandon Matus; his father, Brent; Bob Felmlee, Carl Bowser, Brandon Spithaler, and young Chase Metheney.

Jeremiah Shingledecker will try to build upon his substantial lead in the Donovan & Bauer Auto Group 358 Modified ranks. Kevin Hoffman is coming off a big win, his first of the season, and racers like Jimmy Holden, Tom Holden, Travis Shingledecker, Kevin Green, and Lonny Riggs will be gunning for them.

In the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Pro Stocks, Tyler Wyant wants to separate himself from some tough customers like Pat Fielding, Curtis J. Bish, Jason Johns, and many more.

A question on everybody’s mind will be whether the Rascal, Levi Maskal, can rebound from the mechanical problems that resulted in his first loss of the 2022 season at Tri-City. Maskal was undefeated in the 4 Your Car Connection Mini Stocks until a broken steering rack and a misfiring engine took their toll upon his potent Honda the last time out. Tom Urey got the win, his first, and he will be up to the task this Sunday. Two others that are looking for some better luck are Justin Bailey, the 2021 champion, and his rival, Dalton Speer. Both of them were frequent winners in 2021 but they have struggled this season. Recently engaged Bodey McClintock would like nothing more than to greet his fiance in victory lane after a hard fought win.

Remember that the Pit gates will open at 2 p.m., and the spectator gates will open at 4 p.m. As noted, racing will commence at 6 p.m.

Regular event ticket pricing will apply for this race. So, adults (ages 16 to 62) will be admitted for $15, seniors (ages 62 and up) for $13, and students (ages 10 to 16) for $10. Children (under age 10) will be free, as usual at Tri-City Raceway Park. The economical Family Pass will be available for $45, and that will admit two adults of any age and two students. Pit Passes will be $35.

If you cannot make it to the track on July 24, the following week will also be a Sunday Thunder event, with racing for the same four classes:  the Shawgo Real Estate, LLC 410 Sprint Cars, the Donovan & Bauer Auto Group 358 Modifieds, the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Pro Stocks, and the 4 Your Car Connection Mini Stocks.

Coming up on Sunday, August 21, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series will invade Tri-City Raceway Park and the 4 Your Car Connection Mini Stocks will also be in action. Please note that putting the Mini Stocks on the card is a schedule change due to a conflicting date for the RUSH Sprint Cars.
