Tri-City Raceway Park Announces Labor Day Weekend Plans

(Franklin, PA August 1, 2021):  When an afternoon rain hit Tri-City Raceway Park early on Sunday afternoon, owner Merle Black had no alternative but to cancel the evening’s racing. With just two more Sunday Thunder events remaining on the regular-season schedule, racers and fans will be anxious to return to the track. Black, however, put the free time to good use, finalizing the plans for a busy Labor Day holiday weekend.

Tri-City Raceway Park will host a blockbuster weekend, with over $70,000 in purse money on the line in eight divisions!

The activity will start on Friday, September 3, with an open practice session for all divisions. The practice session will be important because there will be no hot laps on the remaining nights of racing. Pit admission for the practice session will be $20, but all spectators will be admitted to the grandstands free of charge.

Competition will start on Saturday, September 4, with a seven-division program commencing at 5 p.m. The Shawgo Real Estate LLC 410 Sprint Cars will headline the program, racing for a top prize of $3,000. The Krill Recycling LLC 358 Modifieds will vie for a $2,000 pay day. A cool grand will await the winner of the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Pro Stocks. The RUSH Sprint Cars will pay $600 to the winner of the event presented by Gary Glass Automotive and Washington House. The 4 Your Car Connection Mini Stocks will contest a $400 to-win race. Also on the card will be the Junior Sprints and the Vintage Modifieds.

After the racing, there will be a bonfire and music. Celebrants will be able to camp out, too. There will be a $25 charge for camping over the holiday weekend.

The weekend will conclude on Sunday, September 5, with another seven-division program starting at 4 p.m. The pay-out for the Shawgo Real Estate LLC 410 Sprint Cars will be increased to $4,000 for the winner. The BRP Modified Tour will present a Big Block program paying $2,000 to the winner. The Krill Recycling LLC 358 Modifieds are invited to compete, and there will be an additional bonus for any member of the top ten in points who will race a Tri-City legal 358 against the touring Big Blocks. The top finishing Tri-City regular will receive $300, with additional awards of $200 and $100, respectively, to the next two finishers. The Hovis Auto & Truck Supply Pro Stocks will go for $1,500 to-win. And the 4 Your Car Connection Mini Stocks will also have an increased pay, $500 for the winner. The RUSH Sprint Cars will again race for a $600 winner’s share courtesy of Gary Glass Automotive and Washington House. The Junior Sprints and Vintage Modifieds will also be part of the program.

Special event ticket pricing will apply for Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend. There will be no combination tickets offered. Saturday racing will carry a ticket charge of $20 for adults and Pit Passes will be $35. On Sunday, adult admission will be $25, but Pit Passes will remain at $35. Other details will be announced in the future.

But, there still is some unfinished business to attend to. Sunday Thunder racing will be held on August 8 and 15. Those will be the final two races for the drivers to accumulate points toward the season championships. The regular season will not be extended, so the top drivers in each of the four regular classes will be known on August 15. And, don’t forget, the Renegade Monster Trucks will be at Tri-City Raceway Park on Saturday, August 28.
